Your Role:
As a Trade Assistant you will support the maintenance and reliability of light and heavy vehicles, mill plant, and other fixed and mobile equipment across the site. This is a practical, hands-on role where your attention to detail and commitment to safety will ensure equipment is operating efficiently and downtime is minimised.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Performing pre-start checks and greasing of light and heavy vehicles, mill plant and other equipment
- Assisting with diagnosis and repair of engines, machinery, bearings, belts and associated components
- Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Assisting with assembly of new equipment and disassembly of machinery
- Supporting basic fabrication tasks, including welding (desirable, not essential)
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and service records
Who We’re Looking For:
- Experience in a mechanical or trade assistant role (or similar hands-on environment)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work both autonomously and within a team
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, with the ability to select appropriate tools for tasks
- Good time management and task prioritisation skills
- A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
